USING GENETICS TO FIND YOUR ANCESTRY
Peter J. Roberts, Archivist, Georgia St. University

Students will learn a basic understanding of how to use DNA to help determine their ethnic origins, find family connections, and confirm their ancestry. The Instructor will guide students through fundamental genetic genealogy concepts to further their personal enjoyment of family history. Students will learn the benefits and limitations of mitochondrial and autosomal DNA, and X and Y chromosome test results as well as how to associate those results with their ancestry. Students may volunteer to take a Y chromosome, autosomal and/or mitochondrial DNA test, or use their existing genetic genealogy test results.

100 YEAR OLD MODERN MUSIC
Dr. Patricia Callaway, Retired Professor of Voice/Music History, LaGrange College

The music of the first half of the 20th century was dubbed “Modern” by the music history scholars of the era.  In fact, it was often a logical continuation of musical ideas of the late romantic or late 19th century. This class will take a look back at some of the sounds that shocked ears a hundred years ago. Focus will be on Igor Stravinsky, Béla Bartok, Charles Ives, Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, and Anton Webern along with their contemporaries.

The fee for new members joining us for the Summer Quarter
is $30.00 for individuals and  $50.00 for couples.

Summer classroom assignments will be available the end of the month.  Stayed tuned!
