About SUGA - Never Stop Growing

We love learning and keeping current, and we love to socialize too.  This educational organization meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 to 12 noon.  There are two one-hour classes each of these mornings with a 30 minute coffee break between classes.  You have a choice of three different classes for each class period. Classes can be about history, literature, music, movies, art, science, current events and more.

Outstanding professional, volunteer, and self-taught experts serve as instructors.  No tests and no papers.  Just listen and learn.

We have four quarters in our school year – Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.  Each quarter lasts eight weeks, except for the Summer which is six weeks long and meets only on Wednesdays.

SUGA annual registration begins with the September classes and the fee is $195 for singles or $350 for couples for the entire school year.

Our new home on the campus of Rehoboth Baptist Church is located on Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, just outside I-285.  Wherever you live in this area, you will find convenient access to SUGA. Right now we have more than 300 members, but our growth that caused this move provides us with exciting opportunities for expanded learning and socialization. Come join us!

Our Mission

Senior University of Greater Atlanta (SUGA) provides seniors 55 and older with mind-expanding classes, travel, and social opportunities. This 38-year-old organization is now a 501(c)(3) located in Metro Atlanta and serves to enhance the lives of seniors living in the area at reasonable, annual membership fee.

Our History

Senior University of Greater Atlanta (SUGA) began in 1979 on the Emory Campus and first was known as Emory Senior University. It started with 35 students and a varied curriculum consisting of four classes per quarter on Mondays and Wednesdays
After a move to Mercer University in 1986, we outgrew our space there in the spring of 2016.  We became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and incorporated as  Senior University of Greater Atlanta (SUGA).  We now lease classroom space from a local church just outside the perimeter and I-285,  which provides us with better parking, more accessible rooms and a wonderful space to have our coffee breaks.
